About Us

GLO for a CURE began in 2013 in Union City, Tennessee in an effort to raise awareness and research dollars for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Ada Reed Rogers is a thriving, spunky, athletic twelve year old who wants to motivate others to make their health a priority.  Ada Reed was diagnosed as an infant with CF and her family and friends have fundraised annually ever since for the CF Foundation with all proceeds going towards research for this chronic lifelong disease. This year will be the 6th GLO for a CURE event and our goal is 600 plus runners and totals of over $20,000.00.
The 5k race begins and ends at the First United Methodist Church in Union City.  It starts at approximately 8 p.m. Participants are encouraged to wear bright, glowing colors.  Swag bags will be given to each pre-registered participant and will include a tshirt, glo wear, and other goodies. The first 100 runners to pass the finish line will receive a “Finisher’s Medal” this year.
“We made a decision from the beginning….our entire family did….that this disease wouldn’t define her, it wouldn’t limit her, and we would never let it be an excuse to not push her to be amazing. It would shock you if you knew what regiments and medications she went through daily…but she doesn’t really want people to know about that.  Ada doesn’t run the GLO run for herself….she runs it to remind all of us that anything is possible if you have the right attitude.”
